Outdoor Furniture That Beckons You Outside

Aug 27, 2020 09:31AM ● By John Szolomayer, RE/MAX Executive Realty

Do you want to spend more time outside? If so, you may need to consider which outdoor furniture works best in your space. You also want to think about how guests and children will use the space as well as its durability based on the weather. Here are some ideas to get you started.

Seating

The first step to creating a comfortable outdoor gathering space is to focus on the seating. You can select from among dozens of possible options — from wooden Adirondack chairs to wicker with soft, weatherproof cushions. Choose what will wear best in the space you have available.

Tables

Tables are equally important. You may want a large table where friends and family can gather for a meal or you may want small tables to scatter about for cocktails. The tables you choose will depend on the look you want and how you want the space to function.

Fire Pit

For many people, a fire pit is an essential outdoor décor item. You can build one into your outdoor space using bricks, stone or cinderblock. Be sure to read how to safely construct a fire pit. Or, you can buy one to fit your space and work with either wood or gas.

Lounging

Outdoor living means lounging. This is especially true if you have a pool. And long gone are the days of the woven plastic foldable loungers. Choosing a comfortable chaise will help you relax in the summer sunshine.

Playtime

Of course, if you have kids, your outdoor space may look quite different from those who focus solely on entertaining guests. Outdoor play space will be a key consideration. You can choose a swing set or a sandbox or a combination of items for outdoor play.
