Ashland Farmers Market 10th Season Preview

By Cynthia Whitty
The Ashland Farmers Market, when it opens June 12, will mark its 10th season. The market will bring to downtown every Saturday, June through October, fresh, locally grown produce; baked goods; fish and meats; eggs and cheese; coffee; wine and mead; specialty and ready-to-eat foods; pet foods; and local arts and crafts. AFM’s grand opening is Saturday, June 12, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 125 Front St., on the grass diagonally across from the Ashland Public Library.
Over the years, the farmers market has served as a meeting place for families and neighbors. Some of the many special events that have made AFM a favorite destination include live music, shaded picnic areas, food demos, Indian Cultural Day, Thai dance performances, Farm Day, Dog Day, tomato tasting, craft demos, Kid’s Corner, Green Living Day, local dance and sport school performances, Harvest Festival, and Pumpkin Painting Day.
AFM matches Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) up to $20 and offers Healthy Incentives Program (HIP) benefits for produce. For more information and to be added to the AFM email list, visit www.AshlandFarmersMarket.org.
