Superintendent Adams Prepares for Upcoming Academic Year

By Caroline Gordon
Superintendent of Ashland Public Schools, James Adams is ready for the excitement that comes along with the beginning of a new school year.
He said, “While we may never go back to a pre pandemic normal, I am always excited to have the energy of students, faculty, and staff back in the buildings. The past two and half years have been rough and I feel like this year will certainly be a little more like the start of 2019.”
This year, school begins on Wednesday, Aug. 31.
In regard to following COVID restrictions, his team has “yet to determine” what protocols will be in place, but he said they follow the department of health and elementary and secondary education’s rules when enforced.
He touched on how he and his team have been preparing for the upcoming academic year, noting they will participate in a retreat in August where they will discuss their goals for the year.
“The best thing we can do is actually take some downtime and recharge our collective souls for the tough work ahead,” Adams said.
