Ashland Public Schools Welcomes New Interim Director of Athletics

Ashland Public Schools is thrilled to welcome Peter Connery as the new Interim Director of Athletics for the 2025–2026 school year. A proud Ashland resident, Mr. Connery brings a wealth of experience in athletics and education and a deep connection to the community he now serves.

For the past 15 years, Mr. Connery has dedicated his career to supporting student growth and success through athletics and wellness. He holds a Master’s degree in Physical Education and Wellness from Fitchburg State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Norwich University. Most recently, he served as the Director of Health and Wellness at Nashoba Regional High School, where he earned recognition as a certified administrator and a registered Athletic Administrator.

Mr. Connery’s career has been filled with highlights, including being named MIAA Wrestling Coach of the Year in 2019 and State Coach of the Year in 2015, the same year his team captured a state wrestling championship. He also created a thriving Unified Athletics Program at Nashoba, reflecting his firm belief that athletics should be accessible, inclusive, and fun for every student.

Colleagues consistently describe him as a thoughtful, dedicated, and student-centered leader. Nashoba Athletic Director, Tania Rich, shared: “Pete is a dedicated, thoughtful, and driven educator with the experience, skills, and mindset necessary to thrive as an athletic administrator.”

Mr. Connery will officially begin his role immediately and will work closely with outgoing Athletic Director Mr. Kevin Anderson through September 12 to ensure a smooth transition. We are grateful to Superintendent Kirk Downing of Nashoba Regional Public Schools for his partnership in supporting this process.

Please join us in giving a warm Ashland welcome to Pete Connery. We are excited for the energy, expertise, and heart he will bring to our athletic programs and know that our student-athletes, coaches, and families will benefit from his leadership for years to come.
