News from the Ashland’s Economic Development and Planning Office

The Zoning Board of Appeals is currently reviewing three major 40B housing proposals:

· 10-60 Main St. with 250 units

·  61 Waverly St. with 226 units

·  55 West Union St. with 116 units

We expect decisions on 10-60 Main Street and 61 Waverly Street to be issued by the end of the year. As always, traffic and safety remain top priorities throughout the review process.

Meanwhile, the Planning Board is actively reviewing a comprehensive proposal for the MetroWest YMCA on Memorial Drive. This exciting development includes:

· A full-service YMCA

· An Early Learning Center

· Outdoor playground

· Parking and walking paths

· Soccer fields

· Utility services and landscaping

The proposed development spans 12.55 acres and is being reviewed under multiple bylaws and permit processes, including Special Permits, Site Plan Review, and Design Plan Review.

A previously permitted three story mixed use building that shall include 29 rental apartment units with approximately 9,400 sq. ft. of ground floor, street facing retail space at 9-49 Homer Avenue will begin construction in the coming weeks.
