Town of Ashland Receives 'AAA' Bond Rating by S&P Global Ratings

The Town of Ashland has had its "AAA" bond rating affirmed by S&P Global Ratings. This rating is particularly impressive given the current financial climate.

Special thanks goes to the Finance Committee, Select Board, and School Committee for their dedication and to adhering to financial policies. The Town also should be proud of the work of the finance team led by Cindy Cincotta, our Finance Director/Treasurer-Collector; Stephanie Pemberton, Town Accountant; Don Clarke, Director of Assessing; and Diane Mortensen, Executive Assistant for Projects and Procurement who worked tirelessly to make sure everything was ready for the bank rating call.

Some of the rationale in receiving the rating this year were as follows:

- Very strong managerial planning and policies

- Preditable revenue framework

- Managable debt service costs

We strive for this AAA rating because a strong credit rating is crucial as it ensures the lowest possible borrowing costs, signals exceptional fiscal health, and boosts investor and public confidence. This allows municipalities to fund critical capital projects like schools, roads, and infrastructure more affordably for taxpayers.

Ashland is fortunate to have a dedicated team that works hard every day to ensure this high level of recognition.
