In honor of Ashland resident and longtime Board of Health Member, Mary “Penny” Mortensen, the Board of Health has created an annual Award to honor her dedicated service to the Town. Mary Mortensen was instrumental in the implementation of many Board of Health regulations. This year commemorates the ninth year of the Award.

The Mary “Penny” Mortensen Public Health Award will be presented to an Ashland citizen or organization for efforts concerning public health. Their name will be engraved on a plaque displayed at Town Hall, and there will be a presentation of acknowledgment during a Board of Health meeting.
