Greater Ashland Lions Club Happy May Day!! Happy Cinco de Mayo!

We Thank all those that attended another successful Quiz Night.
For those of you who have (or plan to) donate used eyeglasses and wondered what the Lions do with them. Recently members participated in an Eyeglass Project. This involved washing, checking the prescription and packing 1,000 pairs that will to be sent to countries where citizens cannot afford them.
We thank all the students who applied for one of our scholarships. We will be awarding one to an Ashland High School and a Keefe Technical School Student.
Again this year, seedlings were given to each fourth grade student at the David Mindess School to celebrate Arbor Day. In conjunction with Arbor Day, we sponsored a Book Reading. The book “The Tree in Dock Square” was read by Author Jean Woodbury at the Ashland Public Library on Saturday, April 22nd from 1-3pm. The story is about community spirit, hope, and renewal, a timely topic for National Arbor Day and is aimed at both children and adults.
Do you have any used eyeglasses hanging around? We’ll take them! Please bring them to the Police Station (located on Main Street), Market Basket (Pond Street / Rte.126), the VFW (at 311 Pleasant Street), or the Town Hall (Main Street).
Wanting to get involved in the community? We’re a low-pressure group of service-oriented folks always looking for new members. If you’d like to learn more about the Lions and our club, please contact Lion Alexis at [email protected]
