Dave was predeceased by his father, Kenneth (Framingham, MA), his grandparents Boris and Rose (West Roxbury, MA), his grandparents  Charlotte (“Bubbie”) and Morris (“Zeyde”) (Broookline, MA), and his Uncle Abe and Aunt Elaine  (Brookline, MA).  He is survived by his mother Elaine (Watertown, MA), his brothers Adam (Peterborough, NH) and Matt and his wife, Carolyn, their sons, Jacob and Cameron (Ashland, MA), his Uncle Edward and wife Allison (Chestnut Hill, MA), his Aunt Natalie and Uncle Fred (Baltimore, MD), his cousin Susan Fertig (Newton MA) and her family Meredith, Landon and Annabelle (Sharon, MA), Douglas and Dana (Elkridge, Maryland), and cousins, Michael, Tonya, Sydney (South Carolina), Rob, Jared, Eli, Drew (Brookline, MA), Gary, Amy, Jordyn, Olivia (New York City),  Josh,  Katie, Miles and Rose (Baltimore, MD) and all of Dave’s family and friends.
Dave was born March 27, 1969 in Boston MA to Elaine and Kenneth Fertig.  He lived most of his childhood in Sudbury MA and attended Lincoln Sudbury High School.  He graduated from Framingham State College, where he earned a degree in Computer Science.  He worked as a Software Engineer at many different companies, including Nevi Health, Newton MA, which was his final place of employment.  Dave was not only an engineer at work, but also spent countless hours helping his father with computer issues. In addition, he was always helping his brother and family with their “techie” questions, which he always answered with ease and grace.
Dave was an extraordinary son, brother, uncle, cousin and amazing friend to so many people- including those who spent the last week with him 24/7.
Once diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in December 2019, Dave never gave up and fought all odds. During this time, he continued to camp, listen to music with friends and spend quality time with his brother Matt and his family.
In all, Dave was beloved by everyone who knew him.  He will be missed and remembered by so many. May he rest in peace.
In Dave’s memory, for anyone who would like to donate, here are two organizations related to pancreatic cancer:  The Lustgarten Foundation, lustgarten.org (private finder of pancreatic cancer research) or standuptocancer.org (charity founded by the family of Jeopardy host, Alex Trebek, who died of pancreatic cancer)
