New Officer Sworn In

The Ashland Police Department welcomed its newest member— Officer Melvin Ligon —to the ranks as he was sworn in last month, at Ashland Massachusetts Town Hall by Town Manager Michael Hebert. 

 

Officer Ligon comes to the Ashland Police Department from Simmons College PD, where he worked as a patrol officer, detective, and community resource K9 handler. 

Before his time at Simmons PD, Officer Ligon served as a School Police Officer with the Boston School Police and has been NASRO School Resource Certified since 2019. 

Additionally, Officer Ligon is a United States Marine with a service period spanning from 2000 to 2008. During his military tenure,he fulfilled various roles, including Military Police Officer and Crime Scene Investigator, undergoing training under the Marine Corps Criminal Investigations Division.
