Friends Host Grand Opening of New Library Book Sale Room, Dec. 3-5

The Friends of the Ashland Library will hold a book sale on the weekend of Dec. 3-5. One difference this year is that, instead of holding the sale in the community room, where volunteers have to move and set up hundreds of books on tables, the sale will be held in a new permanent room at the library.

The new set up will save volunteers hours of work and provide a convenient space for shoppers. “We’re all so excited to have this new, permanent book sale space. Having books on shelves will be so much more convenient for customers and volunteers alike,” Jan Poppendieck, project and book sale coordinator for the Friends of the Library, said.

The new book sale room measures approximately 18’X30.’ Shelves are being installed around the perimeter of the room as well as in the center, enabling approximately 5,000 books to be displayed. Work began over the summer to create the new book sale space.

“For the first time this year, we’re experimenting with expanding our hours to include Sunday,” Poppendieck noted. “The first weekend in December should prove to be a great weekend of holiday shopping and entertainment!”
